All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children!

Isaiah 54:13

What is Godly Play? Godly Play is a Christian education program based on the Montessori method of learning that helps children become aware of the mystery of God's presence in their lives through exploration and discovery using manipulative materials and stories that relate to the Old Testament, the life of Jesus and the sacraments of worship. The spiral curriculum works through three sets of three-year intervals based on the progression of language acquisition: Hear It (ages 3 – 6), Speak It (ages 6 – 9), and Think It (ages 9 – 12). Yet because spirituality and Christian language acquisition are lifelong journeys, use of the Godly Play method has quickly grown to include adults, the elderly and children in a diverse variety of setting such as hospitals, residential care facilities, prisons and by facilitators of social justice. Church Services- What we offer our families

Family Focused Simple Service

We have a what we term a "Simple Service" every Sunday at 8:45 am. It is 30 minutes long, and includes less readings, simpler and shorter musical selections, and a chance for exposure to the elements of a full service. Our Parishioners found that this service is ideal both for young children with short attention spans and for families who have sports commitments on a Sunday, but still wish to attend a service.

10:15 am Festival Service With Music

What we term our Festival Service is officially known as Eucharistic Rite II in the Episcopal Church. It has all readings (Old Testament, Psalm, New Testament, Gospel) and a full Choir (during the school year). We offer two additional child-friendly options during this time: St. Mary's Nursery and Children's Chapel. (please see descriptions below)

Sunday School for all children (during the school year)

Our Sunday School time occurs from 9:15-10:05. This is in-between the Simple Family Service and our 10:15 Am service. Parents are welcome to participate in Adult Formation forums, Scripture discussion sessions,  or Coffee Hour in Fellowship Hall while their children are in Sunday School. We also welcome new volunteers to teach our Sunday School. Please contact our Church office (610) 444-4624 for details.

We ask all families who wish their children to attend Sunday School register. This allows us to be aware of all needs children have and to ensure we plan enough materials for all children. Registration is online and will be available beginning in mid-August. We will post details on both this website and on Facebook. Thank you!

Angels- Pre K-2nd Grade

Angels includes children ages 3-8 years, preschool through second grade .  We use the Godly Play Curriculum for this age group. The Godly Play approach helps them to explore their faith through story, and to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience though wonder and play. Based on Montessori principles and developed using a spiral curriculum, the Godly Play method serves children through early, middle and late childhood and beyond. After they have completed the lesson, the children say grace before receiving their snack and being picked up by a parent.

3rd--5th Grades

The goal for the elementary levels is for the children to become familiar with the major Bible stories that teach them about God's works and Jesus' love for them. We use the Living the Good News Curriculum. Living the Good News is an online supported,  lectionary-based, fully-graded Christian education curriculum with interactive and arts components. We also work to teach children the major prayers and practices of the Episcopal faith.

6th Grade and Above

Please view our Youth Formation page under the Education Link above to see our offerings for Youth in Middle and High School.
