Formation: It is a word I didn’t know much about when I first became a Vestry liaison to this ministry. Now, to me it means our journey together learning how to be Disciples of Christ. The Advent Spiritual Formation Committees work hard to provide a path for this journey by presenting wonderful programs to stimulate learning, promote fellowship, and reach out into the community.

There are many wonderful new programs and opportunities to numerous to list, offered by the Adult, Youth, and Children’s Formation Committees for the fall and I encourage you to read about them in the bulletin, weekly eblast, and on the website. I would like to highlight one new program in particular “Super Tuesday.” This program is a collaboration between Youth and Children’s Formation Committees and our wonderful music leaders Wilson Somers and Alexis Droke. “Super Tuesdays” start September 8th and combine fellowship, formation and music all in one night. Starting at 5:30pm we will gather for a meal and fellowship time in the Parish Hall. Then at 5:50 children and youth will move to the Youth Room for fun activities until choir rehearsal begins 6:30-7:30pm. During choir rehearsal time Adult Forums will be offered in the St. Nicholas Room starting with a B90 Next Bible study and subsequently with discussions on Medicare, Child Protection, and Implicit Biases in Faith just to name a few. On the 8th we will also include a Simple Holy Eucharist from 6:15-6:30. Please join us to make “Super Tuesday” a vibrant night of fellowship, formation, and music!
