Gone are the leisurely days of summer, fall is upon us bringing schedules and activities.
January is typically the beginning of the new year, however, Fall seems to feel like a fresh start. Maybe it’s the beginning of a new school year. The NFL begins its new season and the new Fall television lineup kicks off.
The new season of special events has also kicked off at Advent. I have had the privilege of working on new events and bringing back past events to Advent.
Special events serve many purposes -- some as fundraisers and others as fellowship opportunities. All of our events are open to the community, family and friends. Special events help raise awareness of what the Church of Advent has to offer. This is important as we continue to grow the Advent congregation.
These are some of the events that have happened and those events that are upcoming. This past week we held our Town Hall meeting bringing important topics to the congregation followed by our welcome back picnic. This is always a great time to catch up with friends and welcome new ones. Salt Shaker Dinners were held and were great evenings of food and fellowship. There will be another Salt Shaker Dinner on October 20. Won’t you consider attending one or hosting. We will have two or three more in 2019. The Rummage Sale is October 27; we are always in need of help and donations. We will have a Baptismal Reception on Sunday, November 4. The Artisan Fair is November 9; this is a great time to bring friends and family. The Veterans’ Reception is Sunday, November 11. Wisdom Keepers will be having lunch on Sunday, November 18. This is a great time for the generations to come together. We are the in early stages of organizing a lady’s night out with vendors that cater to women. This brings us to Advent where there will be lots of gatherings to prepare for Christmas.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for activities, please feel free to contact me.
