Fellowship Events and
Volunteer Opportunities

Each year, Church of the Advent has annual events that all parishioners look forward to. These events include:

Welcome Back Picnic- First Sunday of September after the 10am Service

Let’s start the school and Parish year off with an afternoon of hamburgers, lemonade, and fellowship. Typically, the Parish provides the main course (grilled fare) and Parishioners are asked to contribute side dishes.

We usually need volunteers to assist with the following jobs- sign up opportunities occur through email request and paper sign up at church.

Set up (tables, tablecloths, etc)- 1- 2 hours

Grilling the burgers and hot dogs– 1-2  hours

Assist in the kitchen during the event- 1-2 hours

Clean up- 1-2 hours

Chili Dinner- A Saturday Evening in January or February

Nothing warms up winter like chili. Parishioners show off their creative cooking skills through different kinds of chili. There are also opportunities for Parishioners to donate sides to go along with the excellent chili!

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper – Shrove Tuesday about 6 pm

This is the official beginning of the Lenten Season.  We provide the pancakes and fellowship. It’s Advent’s own version of ‘Fat Tuesday’.

We usually need volunteers to assist with the following jobs- sign up opportunities occur through email request and paper sign up at church.

Set up (tables, tablecloths, etc)- 1- 2 hours

Making the Pancakes- 1-2 hours

Assist in the kitchen during the event- 1-2 hours

Clean up- 1-2 hours

Wednesday Lenten Suppers- Every Wednesday at 6pm during Lent

This is a time for families to come together for open discussion about Lenten related topics after we share a simple meal together. There are activities for children while the adults talk.  Families are asked to provide pot luck dishes.

Easter Day Brunch and Easter Egg Hunt – Easter Sunday

We now celebrate the Risen Lord through a communal brunch held in between our normal Services.

We usually need volunteers to assist with the following jobs- sign up opportunities occur through email request and paper sign up at church.

Set up (tables, tablecloths, etc)- 1-2 hours

Assist in the kitchen during the event- 1 hour

Clean up- 1-2 hours

Pentacost Picnic- Mid-June

Just as we started our Church year together with a picnic, we end our Church year with a picnic. Typically, the Parish provides the main course (grilled fare) and Parishioners are asked to contribute side dishes.
