Internationally acclaimed public speaker, climate change expert, writer, and environmental activist

“Carbon: the Critical Issue”

Richard Whiteford follows current climate science from NOAA, NASA, the National Academies of Science and the United Nations Environmental Program.

He has given 285 PowerPoint presentations, to date, about climate change to universities, religious institutions, high schools, academies of sciences, conservation organizations, civic organizations, at the Klimaforum in Copenhagen at the COP-15 Climate Summit and four times at the United Nations’ Annual International Conferences on Health and the Environment.

In 2015 Richard gave the keynote presentation and also taught workshops at the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Educator’s conference, the Green Allies Conference, and at the Pennsylvania Green Colleges Conference.

 

He has written over 600 articles for newspapers and magazines and a book called, Wild Pennsylvania on Voyageur Press, ISBN# 0-76032638- X. He wrote a 3 year series about endangered species for the Philadelphia Inquirer. He has conducted many newspaper, radio and television interviews including BBC TV, Korean TV, CN8 TV, WFMZ TV, AccuWeather’s Headline Earth, Northern Deutch Radio, NDR Radio in Germany, Justice Talking on NPR and The Pulse on WHYY, NPR.

 

He’s currently a member of the Climate Reality Project, Citizen’s Climate Lobby and formerly worked for:

Defenders of Wildlife, The National Sierra Club, The Highlands Coalition,
Important Mammal Area Project for the National, Wildlife Federation
Richard was voted on to the board of the United Nation’s World Information Transfer in June, 2015.

Awards: The Sierra Club Award for Environmental Activism – 1998 the National Sierra Club Environmental Hero Award – 2006 B.A. Communications St. Joseph’s University 2003.
