Maundy Thursday

"Maundy” comes from the Latin for “mandatory,” referring to our Lord’s commandment to “do this in remembrance of me.”  The day’s liturgy contains a celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the Footwashing, which is the expression of loving neighbor as God has loved us through the sacred meal, and the stripping of the altar.  For as the Maundy Thursday liturgy ends, we enter the darkness of Good Friday.
