Great Vigil of Easter

The first celebration of Jesus' Resurrection occurs on Easter  Eve, the Saturday evening prior to Easter Sunday. Invite your friends and neighbors to join us for The Great Vigil of Easter!  We will begin outside as dusk begins to fall, and enter a darkened church with lighted candles, singing, 'The Light of Christ!'  Standing together by candlelight, Good Friday's darkness is broken to the strains of an ancient, chanted Hymn, the Exsultet.  After Scripture is read and our Baptismal promises renewed, we explode with Easter joy as we shout out for the first time:  Alleluia!  Christ is Risen!  Bring bells to ring as organ and percussion ring out the Good News!   With special Gospel and jazz music, we will celebrate the First Holy Eucharist of Easter.  "Join us in this celebration of EASTER JOY!"
