advent Welcomes the reverend Gregory Wilson to  our Parish!

The Reverend Gregory Wilson will be joining our staff for services on Sunday, June 12th.  Greg grew up in West Chester, PA, where he and his family were active at the Church of the Holy Trinity.  He has fond memories of singing in the choir, serving as an acolyte, participating in high school youth group, and memories of a loving parish family. Upon attending the University of Delaware, Greg became active in the Episcopal Campus Ministry.  It was during this time that he discerned a call to the ministry.  He traveled to Los Angeles for a year to participate in the Episcopal Urban Intern Program where he continued campus ministry work at the University of Southern California.  Greg spent the next three years in seminary attending Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA.  In 2002, Greg was ordained in the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania.

Most recently, Greg has served as the Rector of Resurrection Episcopal Church in Aston PA. Resurrection was formed from the merger of St. James and Calvary Episcopal Churches. During this six-year tenure, Greg walked the two parishes through the merger process. From 2004-2010, Greg worked as the joint Lutheran and Episcopal Chaplain at Temple University while serving on staff at the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania.  Greg also served for two years (2002-2004) at Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, where he was responsible for youth and campus ministry (to Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges). In 2012, Greg completed a Masters in Social Service (equivalent to an MSW) at Bryn Mawr College.  Greg is a Licensed Social Worker, having worked in a variety of settings.  He is a co-owner of Sage Counseling, LLC in Newtown Square, PA.

Greg has a strong passion for finding Jesus' church among a new generation.  Youth ministry has been central and formative to his own journey.  Greg also has experience in helping communities navigate through change; both in managing challenges and through forming creative ministries.

Greg is 40 and currently lives in Media with his wife Brenda.  Greg has a 10-year-old daughter, Claire, from a previous marriage who joins them every other week.  Greg also has deep ties to the Kennett community with many family who reside in the area.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Greg, Brenda and Claire.  We will have a reception for them following the 10 am service on Sunday, June 12th.
