Wilson G. Somers, Director of Music, is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. In 2001 he came to Church of the Advent and soon began the Advent Community Concerts to benefit local and national charities.
As a composer of classical music, Somers has written Mass for the Homeless with his wife Joan. which was performed twice with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and has raised funds for homeless ministries in DE. Somers composed Requiem for 9/11 which premiered in 2012 at the Grand Opera House, Wilmington, DE, and benefited Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA.
As a jazz pianist/composer, Somers earned an Emmy Award for his soundtrack to the documentary film, Edward L. Loper, Prophet of Color. Joan and Wilson have four grown children, Victoria (Steve), Peter (Ovaline), Tyler (Jenny), and Bethany; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Brady, Miranda, Roman, Myles, Titus, and Jane; and a dog named Chase.

Kathy Corkadel, Finance Secretary has been with Advent since 1980. After a short leave with her children, she returned part-time, and finally full-time in 1989. She has been the Office Manager here since 1996. Kathy says "she is a devout Roman Catholic, but an Episcopalian during the work week".

Brian Walls has been Advent's full time sexton since 1981. He is the church's longest serving full-time employee. Brian is responsible for maintaining the church building and grounds.

Irma Vasquez joined the staff in 1998 as the assistant church sexton. She also manages the church child care area on Sundays.
