Children & Youth Education at Advent

Advent offers opportunities for lifelong growth in the knowledge and love of God to all. From our Godly Play program for our youngest parishioners to weekly adult Bible study, Advent offers a variety of programs for seekers of all ages and stages in one’s spiritual journey.

The Nursery at Advent

Dear Families, We are so glad to have you worshipping at Advent and want you to be comfortable here. Please know that your children are more than welcome in the worship service and we don't mind their joyful noises. "Children are a heritage from the Lord" (Psalm 128:4). There are coloring supplies and more in the narthex. If you wish to take your child out of the sanctuary, there are two spaces set up you are welcome to use: 1. The lobby area to the right of the altar has some toys and books. You'll be able to hear the service from this area. 2. The nursery downstairs next to the kitchen has lots of toys, a crib, and diapering supplies. Please make your child and yourself comfortable in any of these spaces and let an usher know if there is anything we can do to support you and your family.

Sunday School
Kindergarten through 6th grade

We will be using the “Godly Play” curriculum. In this we tell the stories of our scriptures and traditions using simple visual tools that encourage children to use their imaginations. The stories end with questions that encourage children to wonder about the story. Then there are age-appropriate responses that the children can make to the stories. These can include re-telling the story using the figures from the story, making their own figures or pictures about the story, and, for older children, there will be an opportunity to discuss the story with each other and a teacher.

Confirmation Class
7th ~ 8th grade

This fall, our confirmation classes will resume in partnership with St. Michael's Lutheran Church. Confirmation class is a two-year program, and all students who are 12 to 15 years old or in 7th and 8th Grade are invited to participate. To register your child(ren) for confirmation class, please complete the following registration form. If you have more than one child to register, you may register all of your children from the same family on a single form. Please register your child(ren) even if they have completed the first year of conformation class.

Youth Group
9th-12th grade

This fall, our parish youth group will resume in partnership with St. Michael's. I hope your youth will take part. The calendar is currently being finalized, and we will send it out to you as soon as it is available.

To register your youth for youth group, please use the registration form at the link below. The youth group will meet approximately twice each month on Sunday evenings for fun activities and service projects.
