Meet our Clergy
The Rev. Timothy A. Johnson, Rector
The Rev. Tim Johnson was called to serve as the rector (pastor) of the Episcopal Church of the Advent in 2022 and is overjoyed to serve this congregation. Born and raised in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, Tim developed a love for the beauty and grandeur of God’s creation. He completed his undergraduate studies at James Madison University (Harrisonburg, VA), and he holds graduate degrees in public policy and divinity from George Mason University (Arlington, VA) and Union Presbyterian Seminary (Richmond, VA) respectively. Following a career in public education and administration, Tim was ordained to the priesthood in the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, DC, where he served as the chaplain of an Episcopal day school and the rector of parishes in the great DC metro area. Tim is passionate about sharing the love of God as revealed to us in Jesus Christ, and he believes in the power of that love to transform lives. In addition to his parish responsibilities, he serves on the board of the St. James School (Philadelphia) and the Anglican Compass Rose Society.

Tim is a husband, the proud dad of two sons (Victor and Omar), and the happy servant of three cats and a Siberian Husky. In his free time, Tim loves to spend time with his family, read, and travel.

The Rev. Emma DiPace, Associate Rector
The Rev. Emma DiPace grew up in Lancaster, PA where she attended St. John’s Episcopal Church. As a lifelong Episcopalian, Emma has fond memories of being in Sunday School, serving as an acolyte, and helping with the younger children at church. Her call to ordained ministry was formed by experiences in youth ministry as young person; grew during her undergraduate studies at La Salle University where she studied Spanish, Religion, and Education; and was confirmed here at Advent in her lay ministry as the Director of Children and Youth Ministries before beginning her Master’s in Divinity at Virginia Theological Seminary.
During seminary, Emma completed her field placement at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Springfield, VA and is grateful for the time she spent there as a seminarian. On campus, she enjoyed teaching Godly Play with 2-4 year olds and serving on both the Adoremos and Intergenerational Worship teams. Emma loves to travel, and spent the summer of 2025 walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, running, and reading!
Her favorite bible story (at the moment) is the story of Joseph in Genesis 37-50, her favorite hymn is Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence (#324), her favorite movie is probably The Sound of Music, her favorite book is The Color Purple by Alice Walker, and her favorite hot beverage is a chai latte!
