Wednesday Evening Adult Formation in Lent – How do we thrive as a church in our present age?

Psalm 134:4 asks, “How could we sing the LORD’s song in a foreign land?” (NRSV). Those words were written twenty-six centuries ago at a time when the Hebrew people were living in exile in Babylon. They were struggling with how to live out their faith, identity, and mission in a place and culture that were entirely new and entirely foreign to them. This verse, though ancient, seems quite appropriate for many Christian congregations today. We too struggle with how we are called to be the church in a time and place when the broader culture seems disinterested in the message we are called to proclaim. On four Wednesday evenings in Lent, Rev. Tim will walk us through the seismic changes impacting U.S. culture and what research reveals about how we can faithfully and effectively proclaim the Good News in our own time and place.
